I am running into an issue with my Adafruit Ultimate GPS and hopefully someone can help me. The Adafruit GPS module is built around the MediaTek MTK3339 chipset.
Why does the SNR reading from the GPS not go beyond 52 dB? Is there anyway not to have this restriction? I am using the Breakout module and a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.
What I am trying to do is measure the exact SNR so that I can see fluctuations in SNR from high elevation satellites. When we are taking the measurements, at high elevations the SNR plateaus after 52dB when it is most likely reading something higher. Is there anyway to change the chipset, GPS or firmware so that we can get a higher or more exact measurement?
